International Medieval and Renaissance Music Conference (MedRen Granada 2024)
From 6 to 9 July 2024, the University of Granada will host the next Medieval and Renaissance Music Conference (MedRen). Proposals are invited on topics that relate to medieval and Renaissance music, broadly conceived.
The committee especially encourages proposals that connect with soundscapes, coexistence of cultures, acoustic communities, auditory history, listening practice, religious reforms, dissemination of printed music books, women’s musical practices, and Guillaume Du Fay.
Conference languages are English, French, Italian, Spanish and German.
Conference sessions will be accessible on-line through video conference links for those unable to travel to Granada in person. We hope to see as many participants in the conference as possible here, but if you are unable to attend in person it will be possible to video your presentation and participate in discussion as well as attend other sessions. If you think you will need to attend the conference by video link, please inform us at medren2024@gmail.com.
Possible presentation formats include: posters, individual papers (20 minutes followed by Q&A [30 minutes in total]), paired papers (60 minutes including Q&A), themed sessions (120 minutes for four papers and 90 minutes for three papers, including Q&A), roundtables (up to 90 minutes), and workshops / lecture-recitals. Delegates may propose an individual presentation or a poster or a lecture-recital and/or participate in a themed session or roundtable.
Poster contributions (DIN A0, upright/max. DIN A1 landscape) are especially encouraged. All projects will be presented within a dedicated posters session; the best poster will be awarded a prize.
Proposals should be submitted through the registration tool: https://www.conftool.pro/medren2024/.
Please note that you have to create an account to submit your contribution.
As part of the submission process, you will be asked to give: title, indication of format, proposer’s name, proposer’s affiliation (if any), names and affiliations of any additional participants, contact email, AV (audio-visual) requirements, a short bio or bios of the participants (max. 15 lines), abstract (for individual contributions: c. 250 words; for sessions with multiple participants: c. 200 words on the proposal as a whole, and c. 100 words on the contribution of each participant), keywords, and further remarks (if any).
